The above photograph lends credence to my Appalachian heritage and my love for "mountain" music. It is of my great-grandfather and his family somewhere in West Virginia. At Branson, the Kruger Brothers honored my past with Black Mountain Rag to conclude their first set, and Orange Blossom Special to conclude the second.
The Krugers at Branson marked one of the highlights of the year for Brenda and me. They are special in our lives. We are no different, however, from hundreds of other fans who have a unique connection to these gentlemen. Never in my interaction with the public have I encounter such social, caring, talented, and unassuming men as they.
We impressed with the attendance at their performances in Branson. With attendance at the park considerably decreased on the Monday following their first day of performing, I expected fewer people at their first set. To the contrary, there was standing room only! The emcee commented about seeing the same faces performance after performance. Fans had traveled hundreds of miles just to see the Kruger Brothers!
Should you wish to get a true flavor of the people who are their friends and neighbors, you should make a trip to North Carolina. If you can make it to Carolina in the Fall this year, please consider it. You will not be disappointed. The people of Wilkesboro, and especially entertainers, fans, and promoters are to be commended for their kindness, congeniality and warmth. There were no strangers there.
We have membership cards, signed and numbered photographs and refrigerator magnets as tokens of our appreciation for fans joining the fan club. Please visit the section, "MEMBERSHIP." CURRENTLY MEMBERSHIPS ARE FOR A LIFETIME AND COST ONLY $12!
Our membership base continues to grow. Please become part of our support group. As Brenda said to me in Branson, "you sometimes forget how great these guys really are until you hear them once again." Enough said.
